Today I had the opportunity to meet Portland fiberartist and author, Ilisha Helfman.  Inspired by the color changes in handpainted yarns, and the difference from one dyer to the next, she has developed what she refers to as a "thoughtful improvisational technique."  Her approach to working with hand painted yarns is certainly new to me and the results are lovely!  I've got some of her first book in the shop and she is soon to have another available soon.  For more information visit her website at  She also has a group on ravelry called: jazzknitting.
