Jazzknitting!

Today I had the opportunity to meet Portland fiberartist and author, Ilisha Helfman.  Inspired by the color changes in handpainted yarns, and the difference from one dyer to the next, she has developed what she refers to as a "thoughtful improvisational technique."  Her approach to working with hand painted yarns is certainly new to me and the results are lovely!  I've got some of her first book in the shop and she is soon to have another available soon.  For more information visit her website at www.followthethread.com.  She also has a group on ravelry called: jazzknitting.

Fall Knitting!

Fall knitting is in full swing!  I've got lots of new yarns in the shop so it's bursting at the seams with fibery goodness!  I love it when my customers share their finished projects with a photo of the project being modeled by the lucky recipient.  Knitter, Judy, has a daughter who is a dyed-in-the-wool (sorry for the pun) Beaver's fan.  Here she is in the new hat her mom knit for her to wear to the chilly football games.  Judy used the Plymouth Worsted Merino Superwash and a free hat pattern found on Ravelry.  Nicely done Judy!!  Go duck-eavers!!!
