A successful family trip to CA though it means that our daughter is now a resident of the UK.

Some New Yarns

If you haven't been in lately then there will be some new yarns to greet you next time you visit!

Ella Rae Chunky Heathers is a new 100% superwash wool that feels great & knits up in a snap.

I couldn't resist Remix - a new yarn from Berroco that is made from 100% recycled fibers. These 100g balls contain 30% Nylon, 27% Cotton,
24% Acrylic, 10% Silk, 9% Linen. It's machine washable and a great all around multi-season yarn.

I'm canceling Wednesday knit night this week so that I can go home & peel potatoes for Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful holiday & I hope to see you soon.

Class: Arans From the Top Down

Aran knitting is beautiful and timeless and Alice Staremore's amazing book, Aran Knitting, has just been updated and re-released! Students will choose a design from the book and, with the guidance provided in the class, alter it to be knit from the top down in one piece. One of the largest pitfalls for many knitters is sewing a sweater together after the knitting is finished. By knitting from the top down in one piece, this pitfall is eliminated!

There will be a bibliography furnished with the class information so students have other resources to assist them. The gap in class times allows for the holiday season and gives the students time to make real knitting progress on their sweaters, so more are able to complete them during the time of the class.

Helen has been knitting since she was five years old and has received many ribbons on knitted items entered in the Marion County and the Oregon State Fairs. She moderates several groups on Ravelry.com and a group on yahoo.com. Sign up in person at the Mission Mill Museum office or by phone (503) 585-7012.

She's at it again!

Caitlin is on a tea cozy binge! The sea horses are knit from some baby yarn she had in her stash - she doubled it.

The elephant is knit from the sublime DK we carry in the shop - it's a wedding gift.

Both were knit from patterns in Tea Cozies 2.

Wednesdays at the Wick - Mark your Calendars! Starting Wednesday, September 15th Teaselwick Wools will stay open on Wednesdays until 8pm(ish) for knitting, visiting and shopping. Bring your current project and we will share our skills and enjoy each others company. For those who work and can't come in on Saturdays I hope this is good news! Teasel Loves Nettles!

One of the new yarns I have ordered for Fall is Woodland from Classic Elite. Part of their Verde Collection of eco conscious yarns, Woodland is a combination of wool and environmentally-friendly nettles. Each of these fibers takes the dye differently, giving both the neutral and vibrant colors of Woodland a heathered look.

Nettles are a fiber that was used in pre-stone age times to weave cloth. They are a perennial that require low levels of water and little or no pesticides. Nettle fibers are similar to linen and hemp but produce a softer, silkier fiber. Nettle fiber is naturally resistant to stains, bacteria, mildew, light and insects. Nettles show color well and, when mixed with wool, add lightness, minimize shrinkage and are breathable.

My friend Karen knit up a swatch from the samples my rep. left me and it feels great! I can wait to get this new yarn on the shelves!
